often in practice that we seek to build a graph with two Y-axes, especially when the magnitude series is not homogeneous, for example if one represents the same graph in various sales and margins associated
... In the example below, we want to compare the quantities sold by product with total unit sales of all products. In this paper, we analyze how to achieve this with Excel 2003 and we will see in a later article how it happens with Excel 2007 (and therefore 2010) ...
When you go through the wizard and graphical tab "Custom Types", several types of graphs to two Y axes are available on the screenshot below: Curve - Histo. 2 axes, curves - Histogram, Curves with two axes.
The disadvantage is that in each case, Excel places half of the series on the left axis and half on the right axis. We see clearly in the graph below, where two series are histogram with the left axis and two in the curve with the right axis.
Note - In early versions of Excel, a simple dialog box in the creation of graph used to select the number of series associated with the left axis. Alas, this great feature has disappeared one day because it disturbed the users too "lambda".
This is unfortunate because often it is desired to have a series on the right axis. In this case, to put the third series, Pentium C, histogram and on the left axis, we have to go through two operations for this series: first change graph type and change of axis ...
