BYD Auto (Simplified Chinese: 比亚迪 汽车, Pinyin: Bǐyàdí Kish) is a Chinese automobile manufacturer based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, Republic China. The firm was founded in 2003. It is part of BYD Company Limited, established in 1995, is one of the leading manufacturers of batteries in the world. Based on this profile, BYD Auto has an ambitious plan for hybrid and electric cars.

The firm was created when the government bought BYD Qinchuan, a manufacturer-controlled car for car production in China by the then State bankruptcy. This method of acquiring permits is called "buy a shell, and has since been banned.
With the acquisition of Qingchuan, BYD Auto also acquired a model, called Flyer.
The F3 has had more success with sales of over 10,000 units per month during the first half of 2007. In addition to F3, the company unveiled new models F3R, F6, F8 and F1. BYD Auto
is involved in the development of electric vehicles. It currently manufactures F3E, which is the electric version of the F3, which called for a cruising range of 350 kilometers on one charge. Electric versions of all its models, as well as the plug-in versions are planned. The company also produces electric vehicle charging stations and car batteries specifically designed for use in electric vehicles.
In October 11, 2007, BYD has announced they will introduce a production plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sedan in China in the second half of 2008.
