In my article of November 8, 2009, I announced the creation of the company Financing 3.1 , a consulting firm specializing in corporate finance and management control, about the use of Excel.
At the time, some people expressed skepticism about me the idea that it might be interesting to create a consulting company emphasizing mastery of Excel.
Financing 3.1 has just finished its first full year with a turnover in 2010 double that expected in the initial business plan. She was one of the winners of the Entrepreneurship Network in 2010 (34 winners out of 300 applicants). The Company's workforce has grown from two people in late 2009 to four people in late 2010.
We had the honor of helping a number of clients during the year, including major operations from three companies in the CAC 40: Electricite de France, France Telecom and BNP Paribas. We take this opportunity to thank those customers, and all the others too, the confidence they have shown us!

In one of our customers, consolidation should be performed on a regular basis from a quarantine Excel files. The solution used prior to our arrival was an application that contains 400 pages of Visual Basic code (!!!) and whose processing time was 4 hours on average.
After we completed a total re-engineering of the application, processing time dropped to less than 5 minutes (50 times), with Visual Basic, less than 8 pages (50 times less ). In addition, the comparison with the last two bindings has showed a gap between the two sets of results, the error was discovered after analysis of the gap, came from the old version !
Note - It may be noted that with 400 pages of Visual Basic code, the old application was made almost impossible to audit. It also contained the error that was never found.
This example proves that - with high proficiency in Excel - can be obtained by consulting the results that even large consulting firms would unable to obtain. So there is a meaning to provide an advisory service in finance or management control based on a strong expertise Excel)
